Intensive Worshops For Adults

This workshop is based on our 12 week course, condensed into two sessions, each lasting approximately 2.5 hours. You have the option of taking just Session 1 or both Sessions 1 and 2; and you can take each session on the same day or on separate occasions. Workshops are interactive and incorporate activities such as games and music to engage participants and reinforce the learning process. You will learn approximately 90 signs at the completion of both sessions. Though you are always welcome to bring your children, intensive workshops are designed for adults and, due to the length and amount of material covered, they may not be suitable for infants and toddlers .

Session 1 introduces the concept of signing with babies and young children and discusses the benefits of signing and the supporting research. You will learn how to get started signing with your baby, the best time to begin, how and when to introduce signs, and how to incorporate signs into your daily activities. Signing topics covered include first signs, snack and meal time, bath and body, and diaper and toileting.

$60 per person / $25 for accompanying spouse

Session 2 builds on the concepts learned in Session 1 and expands the signing vocabulary. We will discuss ideas and activities to help engage your child and make signing fun, and you will learn about some resources available for additional learning. Signing topics covered include getting dressed, bedtime, favorite animals, family, and colors.

Preregistration is required for all classes and workshops. There is a one time, non-refundable registration fee per person on paid events for first-time registrants. For classes held at the PSL Civic Center, the registration fee is to be paid to the instructor on the first day of class. For Home-hosted classes, registration can be done on-line or by downloading the form and mailing it in to us. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required for this download.
